Charlene Platon and Liliana Bogin are a duo of board-certified Family Nurse Practitioners based on the West Coast of the United States. Despite the rising momentum and popularity of Nurse Practitioner (NP) programs, they both found that while going through their NP journeys, there were few online and in-person resources to help them along the way. After fatefully crossing paths, Charlene and Liliana joined forces and set out on a mission to help prospective and new graduate NPs navigate the challenging obstacles involved in the NP path.
NP for Me is the ultimate resource to help you on your own Nurse Practitioner journey, whether it's contemplating on starting, or working your first NP job. Not sure where to begin? We got you from point A to point B.
Who We Are
Charlene Platon was born into a family of nurses. As a result, she received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing Science degree at University of California, Irvine. Several years later, Charlene returned to her alma mater to obtain her Master's of Science in Nursing Science degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner concentration. During the entirety of her nursing career, Charlene found herself in unique career opportunities that inspired her passion for quality and process improvement within health systems. Today, she works as a manager for advanced practice providers within a large health system.
Despite the wealth of exciting and unconventional opportunities she was granted, Charlene admits that the road wasn't easy. After a series of hiccups, trial and error (and a bit of luck), she was able to move forward in her career. Nevertheless, she realized the importance and significance of a support system for nurse practitioners and nursing professionals who were just embarking on their own journeys.
Charlene's goal is to help NP students and current professionals find their true north and succeed.
Liliana Bogin graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's of Science in Public Health and went on to get her Master's in Nursing at Seattle University to become a nurse practitioner. Throughout undergraduate and graduate school, Liliana provided guidance for students completing their college applications. Since graduating from NP school, Liliana has been practicing as a family and urgent care nurse practitioner based in Seattle, Washington.
After her unsuccessful attempt at admission to the University of Washington nursing program, Liliana decided to shift her approach. Instead of completing applications as a hopeful nurse, she approached them as a business woman. This altered mindset allowed her to present herself as a complete package for her next round of applications. With essentially the same qualifications, she found herself admitted to top nurse practitioner programs across the country, including Yale, Columbia, Boston College, Emory, and Seattle University.
It is Liliana's goal to help clients find success and feel supported as they navigate the application process, using her own experience as a guide.
